Dame DeAnne Julius
Dame DeAnne is a widely experienced international economist and board director who has chaired both Audit and Compensation Committees. She has served on the boards of BP, Lloyds Bank, Serco and Deloitte UK; and is currently a non-executive director on the boards of Jones Lang LaSalle (US) and Roche (Switzerland). She is also a member of the Temasek International Panel (Singapore), the Chatham House Panel of Senior Advisors (London), the advisory board of Rock Creek Global (Washington DC) and the `Financial Times A-List’ of expert commentators. In October 2014 she will become Chairman of University College London (UCL), which is ranked globally as one of the top research universities.
From 2003 to 2012, Dame DeAnne was Chairman of Chatham House, the London-based home of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. From 1997 to 2001, she was a founder member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England and she subsequently served on its Court. Prior to joining the MPC, she held a number of positions in the private sector including Chief Economist at British Airways and Shell. She has been senior economic advisor at the World Bank and a consultant to the IMF and UNCTAD.
Dame DeAnne is a dual US/UK citizen. She holds a BSc from lowa State University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California and was awarded the DCMG in The Queen’s New Year’s Honours List in 2013 for services to international relations.
