Alessandro Carella

After achieving his Law Degree at the Milan University and passing the Bar exam to practice law in Italy, He started his professional career with a private practice in Milan, specializing in intellectual property law and unfair competition. Alessandro then started an intense legal and compliance experience within different private international corporations (Bestfoods-Unilever, Royal Dutch Shell) till He was appointed – in November 2012 – Vice President and General Counsel in Costa Crociere.

Costa Crociere Group (owned by Carnival Corp & Plc., the biggest cruise company worldwide) is the European leading cruise company, with a fleet of 14 vessels and several companies operating in various countries.
Costa Group brands are Iberocruceros and Aida Cruises.

The Costa GC mission is to provide independent legal advice and legal services to all business functions in order to enable them to achieve profit targets and to enable the Company to always acts ethically and in accordance with the law, preventing or minimizing the occurrence of financial risks and events that could tarnish Costa’s reputation.
The GC reports to the CEO and is a member of the Management Committee.

The Costa Group GC Department is divided in two branches:

Ethics and Compliance, headed by the E&C Director, who is responsible for developing and implementing specific compliance programs and training throughout Costa in order to ensure that the Company complies with highest ethical standards and with the various laws, regulations and procedures.

Legal & Risk Management, headed by the L&RM Director, who is responsible for delivering high quality legal services as below better detailed.
